Long Wanted After Being Involved In Car Procurement Corruption, Former Tangerang DPRD Member Finally Surrendered

TANGERANG - A former member of the Tangerang Regency DPRD with the initials SA, a suspect in a corruption case in the procurement of village operational cars for the 2018 fiscal year, finally turned himself in to the local District Attorney's Office today.

"After previously we (the Prosecutor's Office) made several summons and picked up the suspect's house, there was no one, Alhamdulillah, with awareness/good intentions the suspect SA came to surrender to the Kejari," said Head of Tangerang Regency Attorney's Office Nova Elida Saragih to the media crew in Tangerang, Banten, Antara, Tuesday, June 21.

The suspect came with his legal representative to meet the team of investigators from the Kejari. That way, four of the five suspects in the corruption case regarding the procurement of village operational cars have been secured.

"Meanwhile, another suspect, namely STN, the former head of Bonisari Village, Pakuhaji District, is still being sought," he said.

After SA surrendered, his party immediately checked. "What is certain today is that the suspect has arrived and we will immediately arrest him," he said.

He revealed that this former member of the Tangerang Regency DPRD was the main actor in the case of misuse of the village operational car procurement worth more than Rp. 789 million which was handed over by four other suspects.

By the suspect SA, the budget that should have been directly submitted for payment for operational cars to the dealer was instead for other purposes.

"The money was instead used to pay the debts in question. The four former village heads should have known that the operational payment procedure was not immediately handed over to a third party. So, that is also an illegal act," he said.

For his actions, the suspect will be charged with Articles 2 and 3 concerning No Corruption Crimes with a minimum threat of 4 years in prison.
