SUMBAR - Kota Pariaman currently has a drug addicts rehabilitation center called Gandoriah Rehabilitation Center (GRC). The building stands in Kampung Kandang Village, East Pariaman District.

"We appreciate the GRC and are proud, meaning that it has helped the government in handling drugs in Pariaman," said Deputy Mayor of Pariaman Mardison Mahyuddin in Pariaman, West Sumatra (Sumbar), Monday, June 20.

He said that to fight drugs, we must work together because illicit goods can not only damage the health of the user, but also the social order.

For this reason, he continued, the Pariaman City Government always carries out socialization to students and residents in the area regarding the dangers of drugs and emphasizes to all local state civil servants (ASN) not to use illicit goods.

"We are committed to supervising all employees within the Pariaman City Government so that they are not involved in drugs because it can embarrass the dignity of government organizations," he said.

GRC treasurer Riva Triani said the reason his party established the GRC was because previously there was no drug rehabilitation in the area. But on the one hand, many users and their families ask for rehabilitation but do not have the money.

"That's why we, who were previously in Padang, were motivated to open rehabilitation in Pariaman with a cross-subsidy system, people who are well off help people whose economy is below average. For those who are economically weak, they only pay for food of Rp. 30 thousand per day," he said.

The head of the Kota Pariaman Narcotics Agency said the GRC had been operating for one month with five patients from various regions in the province. Two of these patients stayed at the GRC while the other three were outpatients.

He said that because the GRC is still new, it is still hampered by facilities and infrastructure to support the rehabilitation of drug addicts. Although experiencing problems in facilities and infrastructure, it did not affect the prepared program.

GRC Counselor Okky Fianda Satria said, to help the patient, his party used a spiritual approach and community therapy, in which a group of people experiencing the same problem came together to face the problems they were facing.

"During healing, when they feel bored, we occasionally take them to places of entertainment such as tourist attractions and baths," he said.

He added that his party also has a training program to increase the patient's ability as a provision after being rehabilitated who is currently only raising catfish and later also cultivating chickens.
