Bahar Smith Again Becomes A Torture Suspect At The West Java Regional Police

JAKARTA - The West Java Regional Police's General Criminal Investigation Directorate has again named Bahar Smith a suspect in the persecution case.

"The result of the title of the case (Bahar) has been named a suspect," said West Java Police Chief Commissioner CH Patoppoi, when contacted in Bandung, reported by Antara, Tuesday, October 27.

The determination of the suspect is in accordance with the letter issued by Ditreskrimum number: B / 4094 / X / 2020 / Ditreskrimum. The letter was signed by Patoppoi himself.

The title of the maltreatment case stems from the report of a person with the initials A in the Bogor area in 2018. According to Patoppoi, the victim who was allegedly abused by Bahar was the reporter himself.

However, Patoppoi did not mention in detail the mode of torture by this figure from the Islamic Defenders Front.

From the suspect's determination, the police charged Bahar with article 170 and article 315 of the Criminal Code for acts of violence against people or assault.

Currently, Patoppoi said, his party is requesting permission from the Corrections Directorate of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights to summon Bahar.

Bahar himself is currently still undergoing the punishment process for the previous case of torture against two teenagers in Bogor.

"Investigators are seeking permission from the Directorate General of PAS, Ministry of Law and Human Rights to examine the person concerned at Gunung Sindur prison," he said.
