JAKARTA - The Governor of Central Java, Ganjar Pranowo, has confirmed that he will stick to the party mechanism related to the 2024 Presidential Election (Pilpres). He said that the presidential and vice presidential nominations are in the hands of PDIP General Chair Megawati Soekarnoputri.

This was emphasized by Ganjar on the sidelines of the Coordination Meeting for Regional Heads and Deputy Regional Heads of PDIP at the PDIP DPP Party School, Lenteng Agung, Jakarta. The former member of the Indonesian House of Representatives is known to have been present since the opening of the event on Thursday, June 16 yesterday.

"I'm at the party headquarters, so in PDIP the rules are very clear. The matter of the presidential candidate is the general chairman's business," Ganjar told reporters, Friday, June 17.

Ganjar emphasized that he was focused on carrying out his mandate as governor and party activities.

"My task as governor today is much more important, such as the education and training for this regional head school," he said.

He also doesn't care about the issue of presidential and vice presidential candidates in the 2024 presidential election. "Let that be a dynamic," said the PDIP cadre.

"I have to concentrate on the assignment that is in me," added Ganjar.

As previously reported, the 29 DPWs of the NasDem Party proposed the name Ganjar as a presidential candidate in the NasDem National Working Meeting at the JCC Senayan, Jakarta on Thursday, June 16. In addition, the names of DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan, SOE Minister Erick Thohir, and TNI Commander General Andika Perkasa also appeared.

Ganjar has actually responded to this by thanking him for proposing his name. However, he confirmed that he was a PDIP cadre.

Meanwhile, PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto believes Ganjar will remain upright with the party mechanism.

"Mr. Ganjar emphasized that I am the PDI-P, uphold the discipline of the party and that it is up to the general chairperson to deal with presidential and vice presidential candidates," Hasto told reporters, Thursday, June 16.
