Megawati's Message To Regional Heads: Be A Leader Not An Official

JAKARTA - PDI-P General Chair Megawati Soekarnoputri has asked regional heads and deputies not only to become officials. They are asked to be leaders for their people.

This was conveyed by Megawati when giving directions to the Head/Deputy Regional Heads Coordination Meeting (Rakor) online today, Thursday, June 16.

"Be a leader, not an official. Because officials retire, leaders don't. Hopefully they have intelligence and deep knowledge," Megawati said to regional heads and deputies who were present at the PDIP DPP Party School, Lenteng Agung, Jakarta.

Not only that, he asked his cadres to have a lot of knowledge. Including, geopolitics which discusses the dynamics in the international world.

Megawati also mentioned how PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto has won a doctorate with suma cum laude predicate. Likewise with him who should have received five doctoral degrees but was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It is hoped that this story can motivate regional heads.

"What is geopolitics? It means you have to learn. Don't just want to be a magnet for executives," he stressed, adding that his message should not be only heard but not implemented.

It did not stop there, the 5th President of the Republic of Indonesia also reminded the regional heads of PDIP to continue to have enthusiasm and not be in a comfort zone. And not only think about yourself but think about what the people hope and realize people's lives.

In fact, Megawati emphasized that she prefers few regional heads but works maximally for the people. "I need a little but steady who fights for the people," he said.

"Not just talking but doing. That is the struggle of the PDI-P. But if it can be big, as long as it is solid and has achievements, that is the best," he continued.

Meanwhile, PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto asked Megawati's message to serve as a guide. Regional heads were asked to move to consolidate but not to be carried away by the current and to play with two legs.

"Upright following the direction of the General Chairwoman. Satyameva jayate (in the end the truth will win)," he concluded.
