2 Python Snakes Secured On Pulau Seribu Pari Island

JAKARTA - The North Jakarta Fire and Rescue Agency (Gulkarmat) and the Seribu Islands have secured two pythons on a residential island in the Thousand Islands.

Head of Sector 8 for Gulkarmat Sub-dept. Eko Mahendro in Jakarta, Monday, said that a two-meter long python was evacuated by officers from the area of SMP Negeri 01 Pulau Pari, Pulau Pari Village.

Furthermore, a three meter long python was evacuated from the southern coastal ring road RT 005/002, Pulau Tidung Village.

The evacuation was carried out by the personnel of North Jakarta Gulkarmat Sub-Department and the Thousand Islands so as not to injure the residents or the snake itself.

"The two pythons have been released on an empty and uninhabited island," said Eko as quoted by Antara, Tuesday, October 27.

Tourists Visit Thousand Islands

Meanwhile, the Department of Tourism and Creative Economy (Parekraf) stated that 42 foreign tourists visited the Thousand Islands during the Transitional Large-Scale Social Restriction (PSBB) period.

"There were 2,806 visits on 24-25 October 2020, consisting of 42 foreign tourists and 2,764 domestic tourists," said Head of the Thousand Islands Parekraf Sub-Department, Praise Astuti, Monday, October 26.

Puji stated that the number of visits had increased when compared to the first week of the PSBB Transition, 17-18 October 2020, as many as 2,261 tourists.

Puji reported by Antara emphasized that tourists must also follow the stages of checking body temperature from the departure dock to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

The Regent of the Thousand Islands, Junaedi, also appealed to tourists to maintain 3M's health protocol while traveling in the region. The Regent stated that all parties should not be careless, even though currently DKI Jakarta Province has implemented the Transitional PSBB.
