Monas Area Is Open To The Public Starting Today, Visitors Who Want To Enter Must Use Care Protect

JAKARTA - Head of the National Monument Technical Management Unit (UPT Monas) Muhammad Isa Sanuri said that currently the Monas area has been opened for limited trials. The Monas area that can be visited by the public is the cross between Monas and the park within the area.

"In the meantime, only the area has been opened. The time is also limited from 6 am to 4 pm," said Isa when contacted, Thursday, June 16.

Meanwhile, the public has not been able to enter the Monas Monument because it is still closed to the public. Isa said that in the near future the Monas Monument would be re-opened.

When entering the Monas area, Isa said visitors must have received two doses of vaccination. Everyone who enters the Monas area must also use the PeduliLindung application.

"Everyone enters using Care Protect, then measuring temperature. Then, there is also collaboration with the Health Service, a vaccine booth is made. So, for those who have not been vaccinated, vaccines have been provided by the public health office at the entrance," said Isa.

In the trial of the opening of the Monas area, Isa said that the entry and exit of visitors was only in the southern area, precisely at the entrance to Lenggang Jakarta.

Since the COVID-19 pandemic began to hit until now, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has closed the Monas area to the public. Meanwhile, Jakarta has now implemented PPKM Level 1 in line with the increasingly controlled COVID-19 cases.

The Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Menparekraf) Sandiaga Uno touched on the discourse on the reopening of Monas to the public some time ago. Sandi admitted that his party had asked the DKI Provincial Government to open a national icon as a public tourist spot.

Then, yesterday, Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Ahmad Riza Patria gave the news that the National Monument (Monas) would be reopened in the near future. Riza said residents could return to travel at the Jakarta icon this week.

"We will open this Monas soon. It will be opened this week," said Riza at DKI Jakarta City Hall, Wednesday, June 15.
