JAKARTA - Curiosity does not always kill cats. Sometimes it just takes them on wild adventures. Jordan Harvey's black cat Ruby wanders away from her home in Brogborough, Bedfordshire, in April 2018.

Jordan might think Ruby got on a truck at a truck stop on the nearby M1 highway, because nearly three years after she disappeared, the cat appeared more than 50 miles away in an industrial area in Coventry.

Leighton Myers, a Coventry security guard who has been feeding the "stray cats" for three weeks contacted Cats Protection, who discovered that the five-year-old black cat had a microchip and used it to track Ruby back to Jordan.

The cat and its owner finally got back together on Wednesday last week. Nobody knows what happened to Ruby for two and a half years. Leighton only met her about three weeks ago, and let her sleep in her car at night to keep warm.

Ruby was in good shape when she was found, so she will likely find another house. Meanwhile, Cats Protection stops tracking Jordan because he's moved and changed his phone number since registering the Ruby microchip.

"When he got the letter from us, Jordan thought it was a hoax," volunteer Wendy Harris told the BBC reported by the Daily Star, Monday, October 26.

But they finally found the right owner. "When he (Ruby) saw him (Jordan), he (Ruby) immediately knew who he was (Jordan), after all this time, and was around him," added Wendy.

Thanks to the security guard who looked after his cat and the Cats Protection staff who tracked him down, Jordan said: "They brought my little daughter back to me and I am forever grateful to them."

"There are no words to describe the happiness I feel right now," he added.

"I had little hope of finding him after nearly three years, but now he's home safe and sound."

Wendy Harris stated that this heartwarming story is a good reminder that our pets should be microchipped, and remember to keep the details up to date.
