Alluding To Cadre Hijacking, Hasto PDIP: Party Is Not A Football Club

JAKARTA - Secretary General of the PDI-P (PDIP) Hasto Kristiyanto spoke about the phenomenon of piracy hijacking cadres when speaking in front of his cadres. He emphasized that a political party is different from a football club.

"We are a political party, not a football club. When we see a reliable player from another club, we take him and hijack other football players," said Hasto at the opening ceremony and briefing of technical guidance for members of the Provincial and Regency/City DPRD PDIP throughout Indonesia in Grand Paragon Hotel, Central Jakarta, Tuesday, June 14.

Hasto said that it was certain that the hijacked cadres were only to fulfill the power of capital. They will not be able to help solve the nation's problems.

"Surely the hijacked candidates were only used for the benefit of power and capital. Not for the sake of building the nation and state," he said.

"So I remind you again, we are not a football club. We choose leadership regeneration for qualified leaders. So that is the character of the PDI-P like that," added Hasto.

Furthermore, Hasto emphasized that the election of presidential candidates in the 2024 Presidential Election (Pilpres) will be decided by PDIP General Chair Megawati Soekarnoputri.

The cadres, he continued, were now tasked with moving down. They are obliged to move downwards to help solve problems in the community rather than pursuing elections.

"What we are doing is moving downwards. What we should increase is the movement of party cadres in the midst of the people, helping the people, not raising the universal electorate," said Hasto.

"When a leader answers the people's expectations, our electoral will automatically increase. But when the election is only played as a campaign function, as an imaging function then it is only pseudo," he concluded.
