Ridwan Kamil Officially Names The Mosque At Baitul Ridwan Islamic Center So Al Mumtadz, Eril's Last Name

JAKARTA - West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil officially announced the naming of the mosque located at the Baitul Ridwan Islamic Center in Cimaung, Bandung, West Java to Al Mumtadz Mosque.

In Arabic, Al Mumtadz has "the best". The name of this mosque resembles the last name of his son, Emmeril Kahn Mumtadz or Eril who has now died from drowning in the Aare River, Switzerland.

This was conveyed by Ridwan Kamil after Eril's funeral procession in Cimaung.

"On this special occasion, allow us to announce that the mosque will be named as Masjid Al Mumtadz, the best mosque, the best, meaning. Hopefully it will be a noble place which happens to be named after our son's last name, Emmeril Kahn Mumtadz, " said Ridwan Kamil at the burial site, Monday, June 13.

Initially, the mosque at the Baitul Ridwan Islamic Center has been under construction since 2019. The mosque, which is located on an area of 5 hectares, was designed by Ridwan Kamil himself.

In addition to places of worship for the community, the area in Cimaung will also be built a da'wah center. In a separate location but not far from the mosque, there is a family cemetery belonging to Ridwan Kamil, one of which is Eril's grave.

"According to the Shari'a, the location of the tomb is separate from the mosque. Not in the area, not attached to the area, not in front of the mosque area. Far and sufficient to be adequate as a place that can coexist well," said Ridwan Kamil.

"By saying bismillah, with this, God willing, hopefully Allah will make it easy for the plan to build the Al Mumtadz Mosque to be completed with the support of prayers from all parties," he continued.
