Update On COVID-19 As Of October 24: DKI Jakarta Is The Province With The Most Positive Cases

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) releases the latest additional positive cases of COVID-19 today. The total cumulative cases totaled 385,980 since the first cases were announced on March 2. Meanwhile, new positive cases per day reached 4,070 people.

Cases recovered today increased by 4,119 people, bringing the total to 309,219 people. Meanwhile, 128 confirmed positive cases died and a total of 13,205 people.

The province with the most new cases is in DKI Jakarta with 1,062 new cases and a total of 100,220 cases. DKI Jakarta is also the province with the most accumulated cases in Indonesia.

Furthermore, West Java 421 new cases with a total of 33,568 cases. Riau 380 new cases with a total of 13,257 cases. West Sumatra 300 new cases with a total of 12,432 cases. Then, East Java has 289 new cases and a total of 50,653 cases.

The province with the most cases recovered today belongs to DKI Jakarta with an increase of 1,155 recovered cases. Followed by West Java with an additional 654 recovered cases, Central Java with an additional 430 recovered cases, and East Java with an additional 306 recovered cases.

It was also reported that seven provinces reported the addition of new cases under 10 today. The provinces are Bangka Belitung, Bengkulu, North Kalimantan, West Nusa Tenggara, North Maluku, West Sulawesi and Gorontalo.

"The highest number of fatalities was in DKI Jakarta and Central Java with 20 people each. Then West Java 19 people and East Java 16 people," he was quoted as saying from the Ministry of Health's data, Saturday, October 24.

In addition, the number of specimens examined reached 4,293,347. In detail, as many as 4,212,065 specimens were examined using real time polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) and 81,282 using molecular rapid test (TCM).

"The number of positive results per number of specimens examined (positivity rate) was 14.2 percent," he wrote.

Finally, the number of people suspected of having contracted COVID-19 or who are currently categorized as suspected cases, was recorded at 166,380 people. Currently, 501 districts / cities from 34 provinces have cases of COVID-19.
