BATAM - A prospective passenger on an airplane bound for Batam-Surabaya-Lombok with the initials DN was arrested by Indonesian Air Force officers for carrying crystal methamphetamine stored in his rectum.

“DN was arrested by the Hang Nadim Airport Customs and Excise officer along with the Air Force POM officers and the Hang Nadim Air Base Intel. DN is suspected of carrying two packages of methamphetamine, weighing 100.7 grams, which were hidden in the rectum", said Commander of Batam's Hang Nadim Air Base, Lt. Colonel (Pnb) Iwan Setiawan, quoted by Antara, Saturday, June 11.

Iwan explained that DN was arrested when Customs and Air Force POM officers and Intel Air Base Hang Nadim were carrying out airport security duties at SCP-1 Gate 1 Batam Hang Nadim International Airport.

“From there, the officers suspected the movements of one of the prospective DN passengers. Then the officer took DN to the Hang Nadim International Airport Customs Office for inspection, and when he was checked, he found a device for using methamphetamine (bong) in his bag", said Iwan.

Then the officer carried out a urine check on DN, and the result was positive that the perpetrator had consumed crystal methamphetamine.

"Furthermore, the officers took DN to the hospital for an X-ray and from there it was discovered that DN was caught carrying 2 packages of drugs hidden in his rectum", said Iwan.

Iwan added that the prospective passengers of the plane will depart for Lombok and will transit at Juanda Airport, Surabaya.

"The prospective passenger will fly to Lombok and transit at Juanda Airport, Surabaya. But before flying, his behavior can be read by our officers on the ground. This is one of the tangible manifestations of the purpose of carrying out raids at airports", he also said.

The officer then took the DN to the Batu Ampar Customs Office to carry out the process of removing evidence from the body in question and asking for further information.
