PKB Not Strict Cak Imin Candidate If Joining Coalition

JAKARTA - The National Awakening Party (PKB) is planning to form a new coalition with the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) called the Red Ant Coalition.

This agreement was conveyed by PKB Deputy General Chair Jazilul Fawaid and PKS Secretary General Aboe Bakar Alhabsyi at the DPR building, Thursday, June 9.

Deputy PKB Jazilul Fawaid also revealed the possibility of General Chair Muhaimin Iskandar alias Cak Imin being promoted by the Red Ant Coalition in the 2024 Presidential Election.

"We are not insistent (Cak Imin becomes a presidential candidate, ed). In PKB we are adamant, but if we are with other parties, we need to exchange ideas to find the best," said Jazilul.

Jazilul said that PKB was completely solid in bringing Cak Imin forward in the 2024 presidential election contestation. However, because he had joined PKS to form a coalition, his party would take a compromise route.

“Is Gus Muhaimin a fixed price? Create a fixed price CLA. But if there are other friends who are in the coalition, of course it's not fixed anymore. But compromise," said Jazilul.

The Deputy Chairperson of the MPR admitted that until now PKB is still discussing with PKS regarding the presidential candidate. Moreover, PKB and PKB are also still waiting for another political party to join the Red Ant Coalition in order to have a ticket to nominate president in the 2024 presidential election.

Because Jazilul said, the Red Ants Coalition still needs another political party to pass the presidential nomination threshold or 20 percent presidential threshold.

Therefore, Jazilul emphasized that his party did not want to rush to discuss the names of the presidential and vice presidential candidates in the coalition, as President Joko Widodo had said.

"Don't be in a hurry, ojo milk. If the level is general chairman, it's ojo kesusu. It's enough for us to be at the second level, so we know the mapping, so we know the direction," he concluded.
