JAKARTA - Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Firli Bahuri was annoyed when asked about the whereabouts of Harun Masiku, who is still at large. According to him, what the KPK is doing is not only looking for Harun Masiku.

"How come it's only Harun Masiku asking? Is there a deposit? Is it safe to ask? Why doesn't it seem like there are other questions, there's a lot that the KPK has done, not only that," said Firli at the DPR building, Senayan, Jakarta, Wednesday, June 8th.

Firli explained that currently the KPK is still pursuing 5 DPOs. The KPK, he said, was still trying to find the whereabouts of the fugitives.

"People who are in a state of search list, it's not only Harun Masiku, there are 5 people and they are still in our search stage," he said.

Previously, the KPK also responded to a statement from the Indonesian Anti-Corruption Society (MAKI) which assessed that the KPK did not want to try to find fugitive Harun Masiku. In fact, MAKI compared the actions of the KPK in searching for Harun with M Nazaruddin.

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) emphasized that chasing suspects who are on the People's Wanted List (DPO) cannot be the same. Because, according to the KPK, each search for fugitives has a different challenge.

"Each search certainly has different challenges and complexities," said Acting Spokesperson for KPK's Enforcement Affairs Ali Fikri, Wednesday, June 1.

Ali denied that the KPK was said to be slow in finding DPOs. Because according to him, so far the KPK has succeeded in hunting down several fugitives, leaving four DPOs, including Harun Masiku.

"The KPK has previously succeeded in arresting DPOs several times. The KPK noted that there are at least 4 remaining DPOs that are still the KPK's obligation to immediately arrest them, namely Harun Masiku (2020); Surya Darmadi (2019); Izil Azhar (2018); and Kirana Kotama (2017)," he explained.

Ali also confirmed that the KPK will continue to search for the DPOs. Therefore, he asked the public who know the whereabouts of the people in question to immediately report to the KPK.

"Any information we receive regarding the whereabouts of the DPOs, we will make sure it is followed up," said Ali.
