KPK Will Add 100 New Investigators To Strengthen Corruption Enforcement

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) plans to increase human resources (HR) in their environment by bringing in 100 new investigators who strengthen the field of prosecution. Hundreds of investigators will be assigned to a number of different posts in the anti-graft agency.

"We still have 100 additional personnel as a strategic plan," said KPK Deputy for Enforcement Karyoto to reporters at the KPK's Red and White House, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Thursday evening, October 22.

The reason the KPK added hundreds of investigators was because of the need in the fields of investigation, investigation and prosecution to tracking assets. However, Karyoto said, this new investigator would prioritize the field of investigation and prosecution.

He added that the effort to add investigators would take a long time to be realized. This is because KPK investigators have high standardization so this process is not easy.

In addition, he explained, there were actually 25 people from the National Police and the Attorney General's Office (Kejagung) who had participated in the selection to become KPK investigators. Unfortunately, he continued, from the selection process only 9 people qualified.

"That is from the police investigator while the AGO is still waiting for the process," he said.

Karyoto also mentioned the budget for prosecution which reached Rp95 billion. This he conveyed, while at the same time answering allegations that the budget allocated for prosecution was only 5 percent of the 2021 budget ceiling that had been approved by the Indonesian Parliament, namely Rp1.305 trillion.

"If I see it is not 5 percent because of the amount of money which is almost one trillion. We are talking about this separate, personnel expenditure or investigations. If I am not mistaken, there are four investigations that are nearly Rp95 billion, which means not 5 percent," he said.

Moreover, he said that the budget for prosecution at the KPK had not been fully absorbed, especially in the field of prosecution. Currently, there is still a budget of IDR 120 billion which has not been fully absorbed because the KPK's performance has been disrupted due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

"Our budget also has not been able to absorb all of it. Because our target of Rp120 billion, if we know, March is almost stuck due to the statement of a national pandemic. We are stuck. April is still possible for 25 percent of activities, starting in May it will only increase by 40-50 percent. , June and July began to increase again, "he said.

It is known, from the total budget of IDR 1.305 trillion, it is then allocated according to operational needs in various KPK work programs. The corruption prevention and mitigation program received an allocation of funds amounting to Rp105.1 billion while the prosecution only received Rp.65.6 billion.

While the rest will be allocated for education programs and community participation amounting to IDR 115.3 billion and for management support of IDR 1.595 trillion.
