Police Stop Persecution Case Against 3 Family Members In Paser Kaltim Because Of Mental Disorders

PASER - The District Police of Paser Regency, East Kalimantan, has stopped the abuse case by J (40) against three of his family members after the perpetrator was declared to have a mental disorder.

"After an examination, perpetrator J has a mental disorder, so we will stop this case," said Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Paser Police, AKP Supriyadi in Tanah Grogot, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, June 8.

The basis for the termination of this case is Article 44 paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code which states that a person who has lost his mind cannot be punished or cannot be held accountable for his actions.

In addition, the three victims are still relatives of the perpetrators and they asked the police not to continue the case.

"The family will focus on the mental treatment of the perpetrator," he said.

Furthermore, said Supriyadi, the perpetrator will be treated at the Mental Hospital in Samarinda for the mental recovery process in question.

"All problems are solved because the family considers the person concerned to be mentally disturbed," said Supriyadi.

On June 2 in Senaken Village, perpetrator J assaulted three family members, which resulted in injuries to the victims, two of whom had to be hospitalized.
