Teasing Each Other On Facebook, Teens In Labuhanbatu, North Sumatra Attacked By Dozens Of Youths

MEDAN - A teenager with the initials AP (19) in Rantauprapat, Labuhanbatu Regency, North Sumatra (North Sumatra) was ganged up by dozens of youths in South Rantau. The victim is now being treated at the hospital.

Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Labuhanbatu Police, AKP Rusdi Marzuki, said the beating was triggered by mutual taunts between the victim and the perpetrators on Facebook.

The beating started when the victim was hanging out near the ATM machine at the gas station.

"Suddenly, two young men came riding a motorbike without further ado, and then attacked victim A. At that time (the victim) did not have time to escape," said AKP Rusdi confirmed by VOI, Monday, May 6.

Not long after, the perpetrator called his 10 friends. As a result, the victim became the target of beatings by the perpetrators.

"AP became victims of youth brutality with a total of about 10 people, who came back with motorbikes in a tandem," he explained.

Due to being beaten, the victim suffered stab wounds with sharp objects and blunt objects. Luckily, his life was saved after being taken by local residents to the nearest hospital.

AKP Rusdi said that the police who received information about the beatings moved quickly to hunt down the perpetrators. 4 perpetrators were arrested.

"Of the 4 arrested perpetrators, 3 of them are teenagers and an adult. They are SGPM alias Zepa (19), I (17), A (17) and D (15)," he said.

"Now (they) are being detained after being arrested a day after carrying out the attack, armed with sharp weapons and blunt objects," he explained.

When questioned, the perpetrators admitted to molesting the victim, starting with mocking each other on social media.

"The perpetrator was hurt (made fun) on Facebook," he explained.

However, the position has not yet detailed what the victim said that offended the perpetrator. Police are still looking for the other perpetrators.

Then the suspect who was successfully arrested was detained at the Labuhanbatu Police Station to account for his actions.

"However, three of them were diverted considering that they were still minors. The perpetrators were suspected of being under Article 170, a subsidiary of Article 351 of the Criminal Code junto RI Law Number 11 of 2012 concerning the Juvenile Justice System," he continued.
