Zulkifli Hasan: KIB Presidential Candidates Can Be From Internal PAN, Golkar Or PPP

JAKARTA - Chairman of the National Mandate Party (PAN) Zulkifli Hasan, spoke about the presidential and vice presidential candidates that the United Indonesia Coalition (KIB) could carry in the 2024 presidential election.

According to Zulhas, Zulkifli Hasan's short call, the presidential candidate that will be promoted by KIB could come from internal PAN, Golkar, and PPP. However, he said, he did not rule out the possibility of bringing in candidates from outside the coalition, which had just been officially declared last night.

"From PAN one, yes, from Golkar from PPP, that's internal, right. Of course from outside too, everything is possible," Zulhas told reporters in Jakarta, Sunday, June 5.

However, said Zulhas, so far there has been no discussion regarding the presidential and vice presidential candidates in the coalition.

"That (the presidential candidate) has not been discussed, later," he said.

Zulhas said that currently the coalition is strengthening the platform to advance Indonesia so that political polarization will no longer occur.

"We want Indonesia to deal with changing geopolitics. So, we will face many challenges that are not easy for us to face, that's what we formulated first," he said.

The Deputy Chairperson of the MPR added that Indonesia was facing many challenges, so it was necessary for his party to participate in formulating the problems that occurred. After that, said Zulhas, then the United Indonesia Coalition will look for the person it will carry as a presidential candidate.
