JAKARTA - The Research and Development Program for oil palm plantations from upstream to downstream aspects is one of the efforts developed by the Oil Palm Plantation Fund Management Agency (BPDPKS). This was done to strengthen, develop, and increase the empowerment of the national oil palm plantation and industry, which work together to create a sustainable oil palm plantation.

The President Director of BPDPKS, Eddy Abdurrachman said, the intensification of research activities in the field of oil palm was carried out comprehensively and the results of the research were published massively, both at the national and international levels.

"In carrying out oil palm development and research, strong and well-directed research support and sufficient funding are required," said Eddy in a written statement received by VOI, Wednesday, October 21.

The 2020 Palm Oil Research Grant Program carried out by the Research and Development Institute in Indonesia is one of the efforts to increase research and development that is sustainable and environmentally friendly.

"The research and development in question must be able to provide solutions to various problems faced by the palm oil industry today, such as increasing productivity / efficiency, increasing aspects of sustainability and awareness of the environment, as well as encouraging new product / market discovery / innovation," explained Eddy.

In this 2020 Palm Oil Research Grant program, dissemination of research results is displayed in the fields of Bioenergy, Agricultural Practices, Bio-materials and Food / Health, Waste Management, Socio-Economics, and Supply Chain.

The dissemination of the research results was presented in the 2020 Indonesian Palm Oil Research Week (Perisai) Webinar which was held virtually through the Zoom application and live streaming on the BPDP Sawit YouTube Channel on October 20, 2020.

Carrying the theme of the National Palm Oil Innovation Masterpiece "Fastering Innovation for Oil Palm Sector Resilience Facing Covid-19 Pandemic", the 2020 Perisai Webinar was opened by the President Director of BPDPKS, Eddy Abdurrachman by presenting a keynote speaker namely the Coordinating Minister for the Economy, Airlangga Hartanto and the Executive Director of PASPI, Tungkot Sipayung.

"BPDPKS hopes that the results of this research activity can be utilized by the palm oil industry so that it can enter the commercialization stage," said Eddy.
