In The Event Of A Demonstration At The DPR Building, KSPI Asks The Council Not To Be 'cat-and-mouse' Anymore

JAKARTA - The Confederation of Indonesian Workers Unions (KSPI) will again hold a demonstration in front of the DPR building, Senayan, Jakarta. KSPI demands the cancellation of the Job Creation Law.

KSPI President Said Iqbal said the action would be carried out on the day of the DPR opening plenary session after the recess period around the beginning of November. KSPI has not yet determined a date for the action, because it is waiting for a certainty on the plenary session schedule.

"KSPI is preparing for the continuation of the rejection action (the Job Creation Law) nationally. When is the time? Namely the first plenary session after the recess. webinar discussion, Wednesday, October 21st.

Said Iqbal said that the parties that will hold the follow-up action are 32 labor unions that are members of the National Welfare Movement (Gekanas) such as KSPI, KSPSI, FSP LEM SPSI, and several other unions.

"Massive national action will be focused in front of the DPR RI building in 20 provinces, more than 200 districts / cities. The action will be followed by tens of thousands of workers," he said.

In addition, Said Iqbal guaranteed that this follow-up action would proceed peacefully. He emphasized that if in this follow-up action there is a potential for rioting, the union leadership will coordinate with the police on the ground to prevent potential clashes.

"The action of the KSPI organization is directed and focused on the issue of the Omnibus Law of the Job Creation Law which we reject. There is no political interest, there is no rioting, anarchism, or impoverishing public facilities," he said.

While preparing for further action, KSPI is also considering options for a judicial review of the Job Creation Law to the Constitutional Court. Then, they also wrote to all factions of the DPR RI with the content of a request that the DPR hold a legislative review process to cancel the Job Creation Law.

Legislative review is the process of examining laws carried out by the DPR as a legislative body. This test aims to review articles in regulations that are considered problematic and can invalidate these rules.
