Expanding Japanese Investment From Panasonic And Toyota In Indonesia, Jokowi: I Welcome It

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) welcomes the relocation and expansion of investment of Japanese companies to Indonesia.

President Jokowi in a joint press statement after a bilateral meeting with Japanese Prime Minister (PM) Yoshihide Suga at the Bogor Presidential Palace, Tuesday, said that the meeting discussed cooperation in the economic sector.

President Jokowi also mentioned Japan as one of Indonesia's strategic partners in the economic sector.

"I welcome the relocation and expansion of investment from Japanese companies to Indonesia, such as Denso, Sagami, Panasonic, Mitshubisi Chemical, and Toyota," he said as quoted by Antara, Wednesday, October 21.

On the same occasion, President Jokowi asked Japan to pay attention to the constraints on import permits for agricultural products, forestry products and fishery products from Indonesia.

"I also encourage Japan to participate in Indonesia's Sovereign Wealth Fund," he said.

The two also discussed the Indonesia-Japan partnership in strengthening multilateral cooperation.

The President emphasized the importance of the spirit of cooperation, especially in the midst of strengthening rivalries that are increasingly sharpening among the world's great powers.

"The spirit of inclusive cooperation also needs to be promoted in Indonesian cooperation as reflected in the ASEAN Indopacific outlook," said the Head of State.
