Even Though I Had Asked Erick Thohir, Now The Formula E Committee Of Legawa BUMN Does Not Provide A Sponsor

JAKARTA - The Organizing Committee has finally released a list of local sponsors for the implementation of Formula E Jakarta. Of the dozens of companies, not listed state-owned enterprises (BUMN) as sponsors of the racing event on June 4 next.

Some time ago, the Head of the Jakarta Formula E Executive Committee, Ahmad Sahroni, admitted that he hoped the Minister of SOEs Erick Thohir would provide sponsorship through one of the state-owned companies.

"My team and I really hope that BUMN will provide sponsors," said Sahroni at a press conference in Ancol, North Jakarta, Thursday, May 19.

At that time, Sahroni had met Erick Thohir directly to submit a sponsorship proposal. The proposal was submitted on 9 May.

Sahroni sees that this state-owned company needs to participate in the financing of Formula E. This is because the electric car race is an international event broadcast in various countries.

However, on D-3 of the race, Sahroni said he was relieved that in the end there were no SOEs willing to sponsor Formula E.

"What is certain is that SOEs as of today have not provided their sponsors. Well, if they are not given, what are they going to do? They are not being forced," said Sahroni in the Ancol area, Wednesday, June 1.

Now, dozens of local sponsors have been posted on the official website of Formula E Jakarta, jakartaeprixofficial.com. The sponsors are companies involved in various industries. For example, banking companies, beverages, to beauty tools. In fact, some of them are global companies that are sponsors of the Formula E event.

"The existing sponsors, apart from domestic private companies, which specifically support electric car racing events in Indonesia, there are also global sponsors that have been determined from the FEO," said Vice Managing Director of Jakarta E-Prix Gunung Kartiko in his statement.

There is one BUMN subsidiary of Pertamina involved in the Formula E event, namely PT Kilang Pertamina Internasional (PT KPI). However, PT KPI only cooperates in supplying green fuel (renewable diesel) for generator sets for electric vehicles (EV) for racers.

Iman Sjafei, VP Communication Organizing Committee for Formula E Jakarta, said that initially there was an offer from KPI to give a discount on fuel purchases to the committee. However, in the end the committee refused the discount and finally paid in full.

"Indeed, there were discussions that led to the giving of discounts. However, the latest development of the cooperation, the OC decided not to continue. Remembering, we want to maintain good corporate governance for smooth and security the next day," said Faith.

Then, in addition to the local sponsors released, there are also the main sponsors and global sponsors of Formula E brought by Formula E Operation. The name of the company that is included in the main sponsor is ABB from Switzerland which is engaged in automation technology, robotics, power, and heavy electrical equipment.

Furthermore, the Swiss financial company Julius Bar became the global sponsor of this event. Then, the technical sponsor is Michelin which is a French tire company.

In addition, there are several other sponsored companies, namely Copper, Hugo Boss, Bosch, DHL, Moet & Chandon, Enelxway, Allianz, Tagheur, Anfogasta Minerals, Saudia. Then, one of the other global sponsors in the spotlight is Heineken which is a beer producer.
