Acting Regent Of Sangihe: Lack Of Understanding Gender Equality Makes Women Feel Unentitled In Certain Fields

SULTRA - Acting (Pj) Regent of Sangihe Islands Regency, North Sulawesi (Sultra), Rinny Tamuntuan emphasized that the government provides guarantees for the rights of women and children.

This was conveyed by Rinny in her remarks at the activity of strengthening the network between institutions providing quality services for improving the quality of families under the authority of North Sulawesi Province.

"Currently there is a guarantee from the government for the rights of children and women," said Rinny Tamuntuan in Tahuna, quoted from Antara, Tuesday, May 31.

Rinny expressed her gratitude and appreciation to the Head of the North Sulawesi Province Women's Empowerment and Child Protection Service, Kartika Devi Tanos and the team who were allowed to carry out activities in Sangihe Regency.

"As the Acting Regent of Sangihe, I express my gratitude and appreciation to the Office of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection which has carried out activities to strengthen the network between institutions providing quality improvement services for families under the authority of North Sulawesi Province, in Sangihe," said Rinny.

He said that currently the discussion on gender equality is a hot topic because women have an important role in every aspect of life.

"The lack of understanding regarding gender equality causes women to feel they are not entitled to roles and participation in certain fields," he said.

In addition, Rinny continued, there are still many views that women are weak people who are the targets of crime.

Facing this reality, he said, strengthening the inter-institutional network of service providers to improve the quality of families under the authority of the North Sulawesi Province is seen as important in providing knowledge and understanding.

In addition to women, according to him, the government also pays important attention to the growth and development of children both in big cities and in remote areas to guarantee and protect their rights.

However, the current challenge is the development of technology and information, where everything can be accessed easily via the internet, so it requires the involvement of all parties to always synergize with the government in protecting women and children.

"I hope that participants can participate in this activity to the fullest, so that it can be useful for personal and community life, especially to encourage women," he said.
