Puan Maharani In Medina: We Hope That The Museum Of The Prophet Muhammad In Indonesia Can Be Woken Up Soon

JAKARTA - The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Puan Maharani, visited the International Museum of the History of the Prophet Muhammad and Islamic Civilization in Medina, Saudi Arabia, at the invitation of the World Muslim League.

Puan's arrival to the museum, which is located in the Prophet's Mosque Complex, was welcomed by the President Director of the International Exhibition and Museum of the History of the Prophet Muhammad and Shaykh Dr. Islamic Civilization. Yahya Atiyah Al-Kinany and Chairman of the Assallam Waqf Foundation, Shaykh Dr. Nasir Az-Zahroni, Monday 30 May.

Puan expressed her admiration after seeing directly the Museum of the Prophet Muhammad in Medina. Through the museum, Muslims can find out the history of the life of the Prophet Muhammad.

"The exemplary values of the life of the Prophet Muhammad in the museum are extraordinary. It must be known by all mankind," said Puan in her written statement.

To representatives of the Muslim World League, Puan conveyed her support for the construction of the Prophet Muhammad Museum in Indonesia. He also expressed his gratitude because Indonesia was trusted as the first country outside Saudi Arabia to establish the International Museum of the History of the Prophet Muhammad and Islamic Civilization.

"We hope that the Museum of the Prophet Muhammad in Indonesia can be built soon so that we Muslims in Indonesia and from various other parts of the world can know and love the Prophet Muhammad even more," said Puan.

The International Museum of the History of the Prophet and Islamic Civilization which is being built in Indonesia is supported by the World Muslim League and the Assallam Waqf Foundation in collaboration with the Indonesian Mosque Council (DMI). Puan also appreciated the role of the Indonesian Muslim League, the Assallam Waqf Foundation and DMI who had initiated the construction of the Prophet Muhammad SAW Museum in Indonesia.

"The construction of the International Museum of the History of the Prophet and Islamic Civilization in Indonesia will be very beneficial for society and very important for world civilization," said the first woman who served as Chair of the Indonesian House of Representatives.

"And for Indonesia, the Museum of the Prophet Muhammad can also become a religious tourism which we hope can bring blessings to the Indonesian people because the Indonesian people highly uphold the values of civilization and humanity and peace," continued Puan.

Currently, the Museum of the Prophet Muhammad in Indonesia, which was established on East Ancol Beach, North Jakarta, is still under construction. Indonesia became the first choice of the Muslim World League in the construction of the Prophet Muhammad Museum from 25 countries that submitted applications.

On that occasion, Shaykh Dr. Yahya Atiyah Al-Kiany conveyed the message of the Secretary General of the World Muslim League, Sheikh Dr. Muhammad Abdul Karim Al-Issa, regarding the reasons why Indonesia was chosen as the first country to establish a Museum of the Prophet Muhammad outside Saudi Arabia.

The World Muslim League is of the view that Indonesia is an example and a model that the world should know about in terms of tolerance for social life. The Indonesian people who can live in peace with mutual respect despite coming from various ethnic groups, cultures and languages, are an added value that the World Muslim League sees.

"Indonesia as a country with the largest Muslim population in the world is also Islamic wasatiyyat (moderate) and Indonesia can be used as an example of unity in diversity," added Sheikh Dr. Yahya Atiyah Al-Kinany.

Puan's visit to the Prophet Muhammad Museum in Medina was accompanied by Komjen Pol (Ret.) Syafruddin, who is the Chair of the Foundation for the Museum of the History of the Prophet Muhammad and Islamic Civilization as well as the Deputy General Chair of the DMI. According to him, Puan's presence is also a form of DPR diplomacy in terms of building the Prophet Muhammad Museum in Indonesia.

“This museum belongs to the Muslim World League. The Chairperson of the House of Representatives was invited by the World Muslim League to attend to visit the Museum of the Prophet, which God willing, will be built in Indonesia," said Syafruddin.

The former Minister of State Apparatus Empowerment and Bureaucratic Reform considered that Puan's presence to meet the Muslim World League at the Prophet Muhammad Museum in Saudi Arabia was very important. Syafruddin said Puan's support shows the hope of the Indonesian people that the construction of the Museum of the History of the Prophet Muhammad and Islamic Civilization in Indonesia can be completed soon.

"This is a form of diplomacy carried out by the DPR as a representation of the Indonesian people," he concluded.
