JAKARTA - The Alliance of Indonesian Student Executive Board (BEM SI) urged President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) to make a Government Regulation in Lieu of Law (Perppu) to revoke the Omnibus Law of the Job Creation Law.

They even threatened to make even bigger demonstrations to create national tension, if President Jokowi remained unfazed from the demands of the people.

"If we cannot do this within 8x24 hours, we will ensure that a large student movement creates national urgency right on Youth Pledge Day," said BEM SI Coordinator Remy Hastian at the demonstration site of the Arjuna Wiwaha Statue, Jalan Medan Merdeka Barat, Central Jakarta, Tuesday, 20 October.

BEM SI emphasized that the government should focus on dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic, which is now getting worse, instead of taking political maneuvers by passing the Job Creation Law.

In addition, Remy also mentioned how President Jokowi actually called the rejection that occurred in the community and what they voiced happened because of lies.

Whereas on the other hand, students and a number of other elements of society have repeatedly taken to the streets. "President Joko Widodo responded to this action by stating that what the public had voiced about the Job Creation Law was due to lies," he said.

Currently, the condition at the Arjuna Wiwaha Horse Statue, demonstrations are still being held. Students are currently on Jalan Medan Merdeka Barat towards Thamrin while the masses of workers are on the side of Jalan Medan Merdeka Barat towards the State Palace.

Even though they are in different places, they both voiced the same thing, namely rejecting the Omnibus Law on Cipta Kerja.

These students and workers repeatedly reminded all demonstrators in their group to be careful with intruders.

"Be careful of intruders, friends, our action is peaceful," said the orator from the top of the command car.
