JAKARTA - The Directorate General of Land Transportation of the Ministry of Transportation has socialized the use of light-reflecting stickers to improve the safety of goods transportation.

"The correct use of light-reflecting stickers, both technical specifications and installation procedures, will be able to reduce the risk of rear-end crashes, which are currently still happening, especially at night," said Director of Road Transportation Facilities, Danto Restyawan, Monday, May 30, quoted from Between.

The use of light-reflecting stickers has been regulated by the Regulation of the Minister of Transportation Number PM 74 of 2021 concerning Motor Vehicle Safety Equipment.

The installation procedure and specifications for the sticker have also been regulated in the Regulation of the Director General of Land Transportation.

However, its implementation in the field is still considered not to meet expectations.

Danto said that road transportation safety is a major issue that needs to be handled better.

Based on data from the National Police, it is stated that the number of accidents in Indonesia per year is still quite high, amounting to 100 thousand with the number of deaths still at 25 thousand.

According to him, rear collision and side collision accidents are one of the accidents that often occur.

"The reason is because the driver's visibility of the vehicle in front is not very clear due to dark environmental conditions, or lack of lighting. Or due to a large speed gap, more than 30 km/hour," he said.

Danto thinks that one way to reduce the number of accidents is by installing Light Reflecting Stickers (Additional APCs).
