MATARAM - The Trafficking in Persons (TPPO) team from the Directorate of General Criminal Investigation at the West Nusa Tenggara Police thwarted the sending of 60 Indonesian migrant workers (PMI) to the destination country of Poland.
Head of Sub-Section for Youth, Children and Women (Renakta) of the NTB Regional Police's Criminal Investigation Unit, AKBP Ni Made Pujawati, said that this case revealed an alleged violation of the recruitment procedure of 60 PMI.
"So an indication of the violation is recruiting without using a placement company for Indonesian migrant workers registered with the Ministry of Manpower, but individually," said Pujawati as quoted by Antara, Monday, May 30.
From these indications, he said, investigators named three suspects who allegedly violated Article 81 of Law No. 18/2017 concerning the Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers Juncto Article 55 paragraph 1 1 of the Criminal Code.
The three suspects in this case are from Central Lombok Regency. They have the initials MN, HZ, and PJ. Regarding the role, Pujawati said that investigators are still investigating.
However, from the preliminary investigation, it was revealed that the suspects were suspected of using the modus operandi of taking advantage of the victim, one of which was by providing training to strengthen the ability to work in Poland.
The victims, who are known to be mostly domiciled in Central Lombok Regency, were revealed to have deposited cash with the suspects.
"The nominal given varies, ranging from Rp. 15 million to Rp. 20 million," he said.
This case, he said, had entered the stage of arresting the three suspects in the NTB Police Detention Center. It is confirmed that this case is still under investigation.
The examination of witnesses, victims, as well as strengthening other evidence, one of which is document confiscation, is still being carried out, he explained.
"Indeed, from this investigation, not all victims are cooperative, only about 20 people are willing to provide information," he said.
However, he explained, from the evidence that is now in the pockets of investigators, Pujawati assures that investigators have found elements of a criminal offense from the actions of the three suspects.
"So in the near future, the file will be completed and we will immediately hand it over to the prosecutor for investigation," he said.
