PALEMBANG - Police officers from South Sumatra (Sumsel) demolished an industrial house for making adulterated liquor in Palembang City, which has an inter-provincial distribution area.

Director of the Ditreskrimsus Polda Sumsel Kombes M Barly Ramadhani said the industrial house for making adulterated liquor was located on Jalan Perjuangan, Block Q number 208, Karya Baru Village, Alang-alang Lebar District, Palembang City.

"This industrial house has been under surveillance by our officers since the last few weeks, starting with the reports of residents who were worried about the rampant alcoholism," he said in Palembang, quoted by Antara, Friday, May 27.

Until finally, he said, the practice of making adulterated liquor at the industrial house was exposed after the personnel of Unit IV Sub-Directorate I Tipid Indagsi managed to arrest the suspect AM.

"This suspect is suspected of being the producer/maker of the mixed alcoholic beverage, he was caught red-handed in an ambush operation producing liquor at the house, on Thursday (19/5) afternoon," he said.

According to Barly, from the suspect's hands the police confiscated evidence in the form of 479 bottles of mansion house vodka brand liquor, 236 bottles of mansion house whiskey brand, four packages of mansion house whiskey and vodka brand labels, one drink bottle press, 100 bottles of drinks. blank, and one barcode stamping device.

"To investigators, the suspect admitted that he had only operated for the past week and carried out the practice of mixing alcoholic beverages alone, taught by a friend in Jakarta," he said.

From there, in a day the suspect was able to produce more than 700 bottles of adulterated liquor which were then sold to stalls in Palembang City, Lubuk Linggau, and even to Jambi Province.

"The suspect has been arrested at the South Sumatra Police Headquarters for further investigation," he said.

The suspect is suspected of violating Article 8 paragraph (1) letters E and F of Law Number 8 of 1999 concerning Consumer Protection, which carries a penalty of five years in prison and a fine of Rp. 2 billion.
