Buya Syafii's Figure In The Eyes Of The Deputy Governor Of DKI: Have Extraordinary Integrity

JAKARTA - Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Ahmad Riza Patria expressed his condolences for the death of the former General Chairperson of PP Muhammadiyah, Ahmad Syafii Maarif or Buya Syafii.

"We are sorry for the death of Pak Syafii, may husnul khotimah be forgiven for all sins, and accept all his worship," said Riza at DKI Jakarta City Hall, Friday, May 27.

For this Gerindra Party politician, Buya Syafii is a Muslim intellectual who is intelligent and has high integrity. The community, according to Riza, deserves to continue their struggle.

"He is a very good figure who is intelligent, unpretentious, has extraordinary integrity. So it is our duty to continue all his struggles to imitate him. An extraordinary national figure," he said.

For information, Indonesian scholar Buya Syafii died on Friday at 10.15 WIB at PKU Muhammadiyah Gamping Hospital, Sleman, Yogyakarta Special Region.

Buya Syafii had been treated at the PKU Muhammadiyah Gamping Hospital, Sleman Regency, since May 14, 2022 due to shortness of breath.

Previously in March 2022, Buya Syafii was also treated at the same hospital due to a mild heart attack.

Prior to his departure, the 86-year-old scholar had a will to be buried in the Husnul Khotimah Muhammadiyah Cemetery, Donomulyo Village, Kulon Progo, Yogyakarta Special Region (DIY).

This was conveyed by Buya Syafii to the Deputy Chair of the Service for Rukti Bodies at the Husnul Khotimah Donomulyo Graveyard, Umar Said Prawoto. This is because the graves of Muhammadiyah figures in Karangkajen Village are full.

"When he was first treated and allowed to go home, he told us whether he could become a member of the Husnul Khotimah Muhammadiyah Cemetery Service," Umar said at the Husnul Khotimah Donomulyo Cemetery site.
