YOGYAKARTA - The body of a Muslim scholar and former PP Muhammadiyah, Buya Syafii Maarif is buried at the Gedhe Kauman Mosque, Yogya. Thousands of people visited the mosque, including the Governor of Central Java, Ganjar Pranowo.

Ganjar arrived at the Great Mosque of Kauman at around 11.35 WIB. After performing Friday prayers, Ganjar entered the front row where Buya Syafii Maarif's body was buried. Together with other worshipers, Ganjar joined in praying for the body of Buya Syafii Maarif.

After the funeral prayer, Ganjar met the family of Buya Syafii Maarif. He conveyed his deep condolences to Buya Syafii Maarif's son, Mohammad Hafiz. After that, Ganjar said goodbye because he had to take part in various events elsewhere.

"We are all grieving, Indonesia lost him, a great father of the nation. Of course we must pray for him, hopefully all his deeds of worship will be accepted by Allah and all sins will be forgiven," said Ganjar, Friday, May 27.

The figure of Buya Syafii Maarif, continued Ganjar, is the father of the nation. He is very nurturing and caring for anyone. Every time we meet, the atmosphere that appears according to Ganjar is always cool.

"He is also full of intellectual thoughts and always gives encouragement to young people. I remember when students first met him, we chatted and talked casually about student activities and so on. His thoughts were always fun," he said.

Ganjar remembers his last meeting with Buya Syafii Maarif. At that time, Ganjar visited Buya at the PKU Muhammadiyah Gamping Hospital.

At that time, Ganjar continued, Buya Syafii Maarif's condition looked very enthusiastic. Even though he was sick and was assisted by a breathing apparatus, there was no visible pain on his face.

"He told the story with enthusiasm and although I knew he was in pain, his spirit was extraordinary. Before going home, Buya asked for a photo with me. And that photo is what I now keep," he concluded.

For your information, Buya Syafii Maarif died on Friday (27/5) at PKU Muhammadiyah Gamping Hospital, Jogjakarta. Buya Syafii died after being treated at the hospital due to a heart attack. Although he was discharged from the hospital, Buya was again treated until it was reported that he died today.
