PAN Says Anies-Ganjar Potentially Nominated As Presidential Candidate By United Indonesia Coalition

JAKARTA - The National Mandate Party (PAN) indicated that DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan was supported as a presidential candidate from the United Indonesia Coalition (KIB). Apart from Anies, another figure who is also of concern to the coalition is the Governor of Central Java, Ganjar Pranowo.

The chairman of the PAN DPP, Saleh Partaonan Daulay, said the two figures had the potential to be promoted by the United Indonesia Coalition because they already had electability capital and were accepted by the community.

"It should be remembered that this coalition wants to win too. If we want to win, it means we will determine the presidential and vice presidential candidates that the community wants. Of course we will see the results of the survey, what kind of electability is the acceptability of it," said Saleh at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Tuesday, 24 May.

So far, said Saleh, PAN itself has established good relations with Anies and Ganjar. This includes the Governor of West Java, Ridwan Kamil and the Minister of SOEs, Erick Tohir.

"In particular, PAN establishes communication with figures. Anies Baswedan has good communication, I think he often talks at PAN events, we invite him and come," he said.

"We are also close to Ridwan Kamil, Ganjar is also close and also other candidates like Erick Tohir right now it's pretty good," Saleh continued.

However, Saleh said, the matter of finalizing the figure will still be discussed first in the coalition. So, at this time it is not certain who the name will be supported in the upcoming 2024 presidential election.

"Do these people have the potential to be nominated as presidential and vice presidential candidates? Yes, they have the potential, depending on the coalition-level talks," he concluded.
