Sad News From Bangka, Seven Teachers Died Due To COVID-19

BANGKA - Sad news came from Bangka Regency. The Bangka Regency Education, Youth and Sports Office stated that seven people in Bangka Regency, Bangka Belitung Islands Province died from being positive for COVID-19.

Head of the Bangka Regency Education, Youth and Sports Office, Rozali, said that during the two years of the spread of COVID-19, seven teachers from a number of schools had died as a result of being positive for the corona virus.

"Of the seven teachers, all of them are still active with an average age of over 50 years and some are even approaching retirement age," he said in Sungailiat as reported by Antara, Monday, May 23.

The teachers who died due to exposure to the corona virus, said Rozali, all had comorbidities so they could not be saved during the treatment process by the health team.

In addition to the seven teachers who are known to have died from COVID-19, it is known that one student died from exposure to the same virus.

"There is one student who also died due to being confirmed positive for COVID-19," he said.

In order to prevent the spread of the corona virus in the educational environment, which has begun to apply face-to-face learning, he said, the implementation of health protocols, especially wearing masks and washing hands, must be carried out in all schools.

"Wearing masks and washing hands are required for every teacher and student in schools, including being required to have received COVID-19 vaccination services," said Rozali.

Based on information on the development of COVID-19 cases in Bangka Regency during the two years of the spread of the corona virus, the total recorded cases reached 12,055 people, 11,656 people recovered and 399 COVID-19 patients died.
