Government Removes Travel Bubble Provisions During GPDRR In Bali

JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (Menko PMK) Muhadjir Effendy said the government removed the travel bubble provisions during the Seventh Session of The Global Platform (GPDRR 2022) meeting in Bali.

"I have met with the President, he has agreed that there will be no travel bubble," said Muhadjir Effendy as quoted by Antara, Thursday, May 19.

The GPDRR meeting which will be opened by President Joko Widodo on May 25, 2022 will also serve as a trial ground for Indonesia's transition to the COVID-19 endemic.

He said the participants of the activity were around 4,300 representatives at home and abroad. Meanwhile, the number of registered participants is currently around 6,000 people.

"But the UN selected. We can only accommodate 4,000 people," he said.

All participants will occupy one face-to-face meeting area and the travel bubble will no longer apply, said Muhadjir. "Participants can go anywhere later in Bali. Yesterday it was only limited to the meeting location, now it is allowed to open," he said.

The international GPDRR event which will be held on 23-28 May 2022 in Bali is planned to be opened directly by President Joko Widodo.

So far 183 countries have confirmed they will attend. The total registration was 6,134 people and 4,097 people were approved to attend by the United Nations. Of the participants, several high-ranking officials from participating countries and from the United Nations will attend directly.

Muhadjir also conveyed the readiness to carry out a series of events, starting from the implementation of meeting forums, main events, side events, as well as side events and field visits at several tourist attractions in Bali.
