Gatot Nurmantyo Et Al Cannot Visit OUR Officials Who Are Suspects, This Is The Police Reason

JAKARTA - The National Police explained the reasons for not allowing the Presidium of the Coalition for Action to Save Indonesia (US) to visit suspects in cases of suspected dissemination of hate speech and incitement.

Head of Public Relations Division of the National Police, Inspector General Argo Yuwono, said that it was just a matter of visiting schedule. Because of this, investigators did not give permission.

"People want to visit the suspect on a schedule," Argo told reporters, Thursday, October 15.

According to Argo, even though the US presidium came on schedule for the suspect's visit, investigators could not issue a permit. With a note, the suspects are still being investigated.

"If there is a schedule, we will not allow another examination. Each of them appreciates that the investigator is still working," he said.

A number of figures from the Coalition for Action to Save Indonesia (KAMI) failed to meet the eight people who were arrested by the Indonesian Police Criminal Investigation Unit some time ago. The eight people were arrested on cases of alleged spread of hate speech and incitement.

OUR Presidium who came to Bareskrim, namely Gatot Nurmantyo, Din Syamsuddin, Ahmad Yani, and Rocky Gerung. The event that OUR senior officials rejected began when they gathered at the Bareskrim Polri lobby. They tried to get inside but were detained by officers.

This incident had sparked emotions from US figures and their lawyers. There was an argument with the officers, and even shouts were heard. The officers still forbade them to enter until finally the US figures left the location.

"We are visiting to ask permission to visit. We are presidium, executive, and others. We are waiting until now there is no answer, thank you, no problem. Yes," OUR Presidium General (ret) Gatot Nurmantyo told reporters.

Gatot admitted that he did not know the reasons behind not allowing him to visit the suspect. "Yes, go home, do you want to sleep here?" he said.
