JAKARTA - Commission C of the DKI Jakarta DPRD highlighted the high number of accidents involving Transjakarta buses in 2021, namely 508 incidents.

Member of Commission A DPRD DKI Jakarta Khoirudin asked PT Transjakarta BUMD to reduce the number of Transjakarta accidents this year by 50 percent from last year.

"We want a significant portion of the budget so that the accident rate can decrease by at least 50 percent," Khoirudin said in his statement, Thursday, May 19.

Khoirudin views that the high number of Transjakarta bus accidents is due to the lack of guidance for bus operators.

Therefore, Khoirudin requested that PT Transjakarta manage transportation management with routine inspections according to operational standards of the bus and driver fleet.

"We want TJ to be more professional so that he can optimally serve the needs of the community in moving trips. TJ should have carried out strict control so that the number of accidents would not be so high anymore," he said.

Continuing, Member of Commission C Eneng Malianasari also asked Transjakarta to be more mature in making a program to reduce the number of accidents, in line with the increase in the number of passengers when the COVID-19 pandemic slows down.

"In the future there must be a more mature plan and preparation so that the accident rate can be reduced," said Eneng.
