BADUNG - Minister of Law and Human Rights Yasonna H. Laoly said that many political parties (political parties) are not actively carrying out their functions and duties so that they have the potential to disrupt democratic practices in Indonesia.

"Of the 75 legal entities of political parties registered with the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, many are not active and do not carry out their functions as political parties properly so that they have the potential to disrupt democratic life, considering that political parties are one of the pillars of democracy," Yasonna said while giving a key speech at the Seminar National Constitutional Law in Nusa Dua, Badung, Bali, reported by Antara, Wednesday, May 18.

However, Yasonna did not mention the number of inactive political parties and the names of the parties.

Regardless of the situation, Yasonna ensured that his party continued to improve services to political parties that wish to obtain legalization or legal entity status from the Ministry of Law and Human Rights.

The service improvements include the Directorate General of AHU using digital technology.

"The Ministry of Law and Human Rights through the Directorate General of AHU seeks to improve state administration services through the use of technology that facilitates services which are a concrete form of e-government (digital government services, ed)," said Yasonna.

He conveyed that the Directorate General of AHU of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights had a strategic role in the success of the 2024 election democracy party.

“The Directorate General of AHU of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights has the authority to grant legal entity status to political parties. This is very influential and has an impact on the existence of parties in Indonesia, and indirectly plays a strategic role in the implementation of democratic parties," he said.

Therefore, Yasinna hopes that the public will understand the role and authority of the Directorate General of AHU, especially those related to political parties.

Yasonna, in his meeting with the Association for Teaching Constitutional Law and State Administrative Law (APHTN-HAN) in Nusa Dua, Wednesday, also hoped that constitutional law experts could actively educate the public about the role and authority of the Directorate General of AHU of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights.
