Sand Loading Truck Hits 9 Houses In Pasuruan

PASURUAN - A dump truck with the police number M-8148-UG loaded with sand and stone experienced a failed brake, hitting nine residential buildings in Pasrepan District, Pasuruan Regency, East Java.

Kasat Kasat Pasuruan Police AKP Yudhi Anugerah Putra said that apart from crashing into a house, the truck also hit a number of vehicles parked on the side of the road.

"As a result of this accident, one person was injured, namely the truck driver named M Masturi, a resident of Telaga Nangka Hamlet, Burneh District, Bangkalan Regency," he said, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, May 18.

He said that there were no casualties in the accident, but what was clear was that there were material losses considering that many houses were damaged by the incident.

"The truck driver is currently still being treated by medical officers at the hospital and can be invited to communicate," he said.

He said, from the driver's statement, he explained that the vehicle being driven a few days earlier had been taken to the workshop.

"The driver's confession explained that the vehicle had been taken to the workshop a few days earlier," he said.

His party has yet to determine a suspect for this incident because an in-depth examination of the driver and witnesses in the field is still being conducted.

"Including the amount of material loss, we don't know yet because residents are still recording losses due to the incident and then reporting it to the sub-district officer," he said.

Initially the accident occurred allegedly due to human error, because based on the results of the TKP between the police and the Pasuruan Regency Transportation Service, there was no visible trace of braking from the dump truck and the gear of the dump truck was still in third gear.

"The initial hypothesis was that the Pasuruan Police Department of Transportation and Satlantas were caused by human error. Because the gear position was in the 'gear' 3 position. Then no brake marks were found," he said.
