JAKARTA - Attorney General Sanitiar Burhanuddin said the role of suspect Lin Che Wei (LCW) alias Weibinanto Halimdjati was to participate in making the Domestic Market Obligation (DMO) policy in the case of alleged corruption in the export of crude palm oil (CPO).

Burhanuddin revealed that the policy made by the LCW suspect was listened to by the Director General of Foreign Trade of the Ministry of Trade, Indrasari Wisnu Wardhana (IWW), who is also a suspect in the alleged corruption case.

"He (LCW) is a private person, but his (Ministry of Trade) policy there (Ministry of Trade) is very well heard by his Director General (IWW)," said Burhanuddin in a written statement quoted by Antara, Wednesday, May 18.

As an economist, Burhanuddin continued, the LCW suspect was recruited by the Ministry of Trade without a decree and/or without a certain contract.

"But in its implementation, he (LCW) participates in determining the policy regarding the circulation of procedures regarding the distribution of cooking oil (CPO)," he added.

AGO investigators traced the status of LCW at the Ministry of Trade and found the suspect was involved in various export policies and was present at every important meeting at the ministry. Investigators are also investigating which parties at the Ministry of Trade were involved in giving authority to the suspect Lin Che Wei.

Burhanuddin believes that investigators have sufficient evidence, including digital evidence showing LCW's participation in determining policies at the Ministry of Trade.

"We, the investigative team, have tried (to find out) what his status is there, but not yet, not yet. He has not conveyed what his status is and there is no decree stipulating that he is a private sector recruited as a structural or organizational (party) in one management or in one ministry," explained Burhanuddin.

The Junior Attorney General's Investigator for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) at the AGO has named Lin Che Wei as the fifth suspect in the alleged corruption case against CPO exports.

Apart from Lin Che Wei and Indrasari Wisnu Wardhana, investigators also named three other people as suspects, namely Master Parulian Tumanggor as Commissioner of PT Wilmar Nabati Indonesia, Stanley MA as Senior Manager Corporate Affairs of PT Pelita Agung Agroindustri/Permata Hijau Group, and Picare Tagore Sitanggang as General Manager at the General Affairs Section of PT Musim Mas.

Lin Che Wei is suspected of violating Article 2 in conjunction with Article 3 in conjunction with Article 18 of Law Number 31 of 1999, as amended and supplemented by Law Number 20 of 2001 concerning Amendments to Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph (1) of the 1st Criminal Code.

The actions of the suspects caused losses to the state economy, namely the expensiveness and scarcity of cooking oil, resulting in a decrease in household consumption and small industries that use cooking oil and complicate people's lives.
