Palu City Has Passed 23 Days Without Any Cases Of COVID-19

JAKARTA - The Palu Health Office set a good record. The capital city of Central Sulawesi Province has passed 23 days without any new cases of COVID-19.

"There have been no reports of new cases, and we hope it doesn't happen. The zero case position has persisted for the last three weeks," said Head of the Surveillance Team for the Palu City Health Service, Rochmat Jasin, Wednesday, May 18, quoted from Antara.

The success of efforts to suppress the transmission of the corona virus in Palu City cannot be separated from the hard work of the COVID-19 Handling Task Force officers and COVID-19 response teams at the sub-district and sub-district levels as well as residents' compliance with implementing health protocols.

"Collaboration between the government and citizens is getting better, it is proven that no residents have been infected with COVID-19 in the last three weeks," he said.

He said, the acceleration of increasing vaccination coverage carried out by the Palu City Government also contributed to a significant reduction in cases of COVID-19 transmission.

According to vaccination coverage data released by the Ministry of Health, as of May 18, 2022, the first dose of vaccination has been administered to 259,774 people or 97.86 percent of the total 265,462 residents targeted for COVID-19 vaccination in Palu City.

Meanwhile, the second and third doses of vaccination or boosters were recorded to cover 199,526 people (75.16 percent) and 47,061 people (17.73 percent) in Palu City, respectively.

"Especially for booster vaccination, the Palu City Government continues to try to increase the target achievement," said Rochmat.

He appealed to residents to continue to apply health protocols to avoid the transmission of COVID-19 even though the central government had relaxed the rules for using masks in certain places.

"The policy of easing masks is only in certain places, one of which is in open spaces, but for indoor activities, masks are still mandatory. This means that the prokes are still in effect," he said.
