JAKARTA - Raids to control masks have been canceled in all open areas in Central Jakarta starting from Wednesday, May 18. This was conveyed by the Head of the Central Jakarta Civil Service Police Unit, Bernard Tambunan.

"Starting today, according to the order of the Head of the Jakarta Provincial PP PP, Arifin, that the orderly raids on masks are stopped," Bernard said when contacted by VOI, Wednesday, May 18.

However, Bernard admitted that his party was still waiting for derivative rules from the leadership. Later, he continued, will the mask raids be transferred to closed rooms such as offices, places of business, malls?

"If later there are derivative rules from the new leadership, we will move. Now we are still waiting from the leadership regarding the steps for the orderly raid on masks again," he said.

Previously, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) said the government had relaxed the policy on wearing masks. The President explained that this was decided by taking into account the increasingly controlled conditions for handling the COVID-19 pandemic in Indonesia.

"The government has decided to relax the policy on wearing masks. Even so, the President asked the public to continue to use masks during activities in closed rooms and public transportation. Then, people who are categorized as vulnerable, such as the elderly or have comorbid diseases, are advised to continue to use masks when doing activities.
