JAKARTA - Defense Minister (Menhan) Prabowo Subianto is scheduled to travel to the United States after he received an invitation from the US Defense Minister Mark T. Esper.

The tour is scheduled to last for four days from October 15 to October 19.

"Pak Prabowo has been active in the United States from 15 to 19," said the spokesman for the Indonesian Minister of Defense, Dahnil Anzar Simanjuntak in his video statement quoted on Thursday, October 15.

During this visit, Prabowo is scheduled to hold a number of meetings with various parties to discuss a number of matters related to defense.

"He will talk about defense cooperation between the United States and Indonesia, continue the various collaborations that have been carried out so far, and meet with many parties, especially those related to defense in the United States," he said.

Previously, Prabowo said he was ready to go to America , even though currently the COVID-19 pandemic was occurring after receiving orders from President Joko Widodo (Jokowi).

This order, according to Prabowo, was given by Jokowi after he reported receiving an invitation from the United States government through US Defense Minister Mark T. Esper.

"I went to the President. I reported, 'Sir, I got an invitation from the United States.' The President said yes, I have to go," Prabowo said in a video statement quoted on Tuesday, October 13.

Moreover, there is no reason for the Gerindra Party chairman to reject the United States' invitation. Because, this country is considered important and the invitation was conveyed directly to him, who is currently the Minister of Defense.

"Yes, America is an important country, I was invited. I have to fulfill the invitation, "he said.

Prabowo understands very well that he will travel a very long distance to America. Not to mention, this trip was made in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.
