Golkar Politician: So Far Ustaz Abdul Somad's Lectures Do Not Contain Radicalism

JAKARTA - Golkar Party politician Ace Hasan Syadzily, highlighted information regarding the alleged deportation of Ustaz Abdul Somad (UAS) in Singapore. The Singapore government must provide a clear explanation regarding the refusal to enter the Indonesian citizen into the country. "Deportation is a policy of the country. However, the Singaporean government must be able to explain to the Indonesian side the reasons for the deportation," said Ace, Wednesday, May 17.

The chairman of the West Java Golkar DPD views that Singapore's openness is important to clarify information about the rejection of the UAS so as not to cause polemics in the public. Moreover, said Ace, UAS is a public figure who is widely known by the Indonesian people. In fact, he often gives tausiyah in several neighboring countries. Moreover, the Deputy Chairman of Commission VIII of the DPR RI who is in charge of religion views that UAS lectures also do not teach about radicalism in every recitation or event that he fills.

"UAS his speeches, lectures, so far are still within reasonable limits, do not contain aspects of radicalism that teach people to do violence in the name of religion," explained Ace. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Law and Human Rights stated that it was still investigating the news of Ustad Abdul Somad's refusal to enter Singapore.

"Information regarding UAS is still being explored or investigated," said Head of Public Relations of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, Tubagus Erif Faturahman in Jakarta, Tuesday, May 17.

Erif said, for the time being the Directorate General of Immigration at the Ministry of Law and Human Rights is still trying to find complete information from the Singapore Immigration Office regarding the deportation.

He said that his party did not know the exact time of the incident or the initial information on the deportation of the preacher, an alumnus of Al-Azhar University in Egypt.

"So we are still waiting and exploring the information," explained Erif.
