Residents Of Victims Of Crocodile Attacks On Homecoming Knives In Central Kalimantan Found Dead

PULANG KNIFE - A resident named Fauzi alias Ipau (20) who was reported missing was found dead in the Sebangau river, Kuala Dusun Barata, Paduran Sebangau Village, Pulang Pisau Regency, Central Kalimantan. He is suspected of being the victim of a crocodile attack.

"The victim's body was found floating this morning at around 08.00 WIB," said Pulang Pisau Police Chief AKBP Kurniawan Hartono through the Head of Public Relations AKP Daspin, quoted by Antara, Tuesday, May 17.

The condition of the victim's body was found to be swollen. On the left shoulder of the victim there is a bite mark that is suspected to be a crocodile bite.

Furthermore, residents evacuated the victim's body onto a klotok boat to wait for the medical team from the Sebangau Health Center.

After the team from the local health center arrived at the scene, said Daspin, for a post-mortem, but the victim's family refused to do the post-mortem and the victim's body was immediately taken back to Marabahan, South Kalimantan.

The head of Paduran Sebangau Village, Sebangau District, Kuala Bahtiar, said that the victim of the crocodile attack was not far from the previous attacks. The location of the attack was only about 500 meters from the location of the sawmill where the victim worked.

Previously, he said, after receiving information from the owner of the sawmill, he immediately coordinated with the local police and residents to search for victims who were reported missing from being attacked by crocodiles, Sunday (15/5) around 14.00 WIB.

"The local village government together with the local community held a meeting one day earlier to bring in a handler so that crocodile attacks on the community do not happen again," he said.

Bahtiar also reminded the public, especially those who work and do activities on the banks of the river, to be vigilant and careful because the Sebangau River is widely known as a crocodile habitat.

"The increase in crocodile attacks in recent times can also be caused by these predatory animals while taking care of their young. In addition, the reduced food chain can also be the cause of attacks on humans," said Bahtiar.
