DENPASAR - A total of 26 Prisoners (WBP) in all Correctional Institutions (Lapas) and Detention Centers (Rutan) in Bali who are Buddhists received special remissions for the 2022 Vesak Day.

Of the total recipients of the special remission, 3 inmates received 15-day remission, 13 inmates received 1-month remission. Then 7 inmates received a remission of 1 month 15 days and 3 inmates received a remission of 2 months.

Head of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kemenkum HAM) Bali Anggita Napitupulu said prisoners who received remission were prisoners who had met administrative and substantive requirements.

"Among them have served a minimum of six months of imprisonment, are not registered in register F or in the record book of inmates' discipline violations, and are actively participating in the coaching program held," said Anggiat Napitupulu, Monday, May 16.

Even in the COVID-19 pandemic situation, all prisoners' rights such as granting remissions, assimilation and integration are still being fulfilled.

"The remission received by the WBP is one of the rights granted by the state for the achievements they have made while undergoing training in prisons, detention centers or LPKA," he said.

"The granting of this special Waisak remission is expected to motivate WBP to achieve self-awareness which is reflected in their daily attitudes and behavior and always increase optimism in carrying out the sentence for loss of independence that is being carried out," continued Anggiat.
