Anies: Vesak Grows Togetherness

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan said, Vesak Day fosters a spirit of togetherness, peace and unity.

"To all Buddhists, especially in Jakarta, allow us to take this opportunity to wish you a Happy Vesak Day 2566," said Anies through the Instagram account @aniesbaswedan quoted by Antara, Monday, May 16.

Anies hopes that the Vesak celebration with the theme "The path of wisdom to true happiness", fosters feelings of togetherness, unity and peace and shade for all.

Anies congratulated Vesak on the sidelines of his visit to three countries in Europe, namely England, Germany and France.

Anies is currently in Berlin (Germany) after his first visit to London, England.

While in England, Anies held discussions with doctoral students from Indonesia at King's College London as well as discussions and interviews with Bloomberg New Energy Finance.

In addition, Anies witnessed the signing of the cooperation between BUMD DKI, TransJakarta with BloombergNEF and discussions on sustainable transportation in Jakarta and the U20 forum held at BloombergNEF, London.

He also met with the British Minister of International Trade Anne-Marie to discuss the potential for cooperation in the field of transport.

Meanwhile, on the first day in Berlin, Anies reviewed the Berlin-Jakarta collaboration mural which is also in the Kendal Tunnel, Central Jakarta.

Not yet known the next agenda in Berlin and Paris (France).

Anies traveled to Europe departing on Tuesday (10/5) night with a plan for eight days.

In addition to meeting invitations from communities in the region regarding mobility and transportation, the other agenda is the plan for a "sister city" and "smart city" cooperation.
