Golkar, PAN, And PPP Meet, PKB: Opportunity For The 2024 Presidential Election To Be Filled With Three Pairs

JAKARTA - The meeting of three general chairmen of political parties, namely Golkar, PAN, and PPP, opens the opportunity for three pairs to participate in the 2024 Presidential Election. As stated by the Deputy Chairperson of the PKB DPP Jazilul Fawaid.

"PKB hopes that in the 2024 presidential election, not two pairs, at least three pairs. With this meeting, I see that in the 2024 election there will be three pairs of candidates," Jazilul said in a statement quoted by Antara, Sunday, May 15.

This was said by Jazilul in connection with the meeting of the General Chairperson of the Golkar Party DPP Airlangga Hartarto, the General Chair of the PAN DPP Zulkifli Hasan, and the General Chair of the PPP DPP Suharso Monoarfa, on Thursday 12 May. The meeting gave a strong signal that a coalition would be formed in the 2024 presidential election.

Jazilul appreciated the meeting of the three political party leaders because it was part of finding various alternatives for the community.

Regarding whether PKB will join the coalition of the three political parties, he emphasized that his party is very open to communicating with any party.

"Gus Muhaimin has communicated with Pak Airlangga and also with other political parties. However, for the three political parties that have gathered, PKB has not confirmed whether they will act together or will build another coalition," he said.

He also said that the meeting of the three political parties had not yet produced clear results, such as who the presidential candidate would be and what the agenda for the meeting was.

The deputy chairman of the MPR RI hopes that the political parties can immediately determine the presidential candidate so that the public can freely give an assessment of the candidate they will carry.

According to him, PKB has decided to carry Muhaimin Iskandar as a presidential candidate in the 2024 election.

In accordance with Law Number 7 of 2017 concerning Elections, said Jazilul, political parties have the sovereignty to determine their position. The presidential/wapres candidate pair can be carried by a political party or a combination of political parties as long as they fulfill the requirements of the law.
