The Chief Of Police's Oration During May Day Fiesta Is Considered As A Form Of State Recognizing The Role Of Labor

JAKARTA - The National Police Commission (Kompolnas) responded to the presence and oration of the National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo at a labor event titled May Day Fiesta at Gelora Bung Karno (GBK).

Commissioner of National Police, Poengky Indarti, assessed that Sigit's statement during the May Day Fiesta was a form of state recognition of the role of workers in encouraging the national economy.

"Thanks from the National Police Chief greatly improves the morale of workers and is a form of state recognition for the workers' struggle in improving the national economy," said Poengky in his statement, Sunday, May 15.

Poengky said the May Day Fiesta, which was considered peaceful, showed good cooperation and coordination between the police and labor unions.

"Kompolnas welcomes and appreciates the implementation of the May Day action which took place today simultaneously throughout Indonesia which went peacefully, smoothly, safely, and successfully. The good cooperation and coordination between the trade union confederation and the police should be commended," he said.

It is known that the National Police Chief, General Listyo Sigit, greeted the masses of workers at the May Day Fiesta. Together with Labor Party President Said Iqbal, Sigit greeted those present at the Bung Karno Main Stadium (GBK) Senayan, Central Jakarta.

"Long live the workers, happy birthday to all workers in Indonesia and abroad," Listyo said to workers at GBK Senayan, Central Jakarta, Saturday, May 14.

Sigit also appreciated the Indonesian workers who were able to carry out the May Day Fiesta peacefully.

"Today, it can be shown that large numbers of workers can gather in a solemn, peaceful, and joyful event. This also shows that Indonesia is a modern democracy," he said.

He encouraged the workers to always carry out activities to channel their aspirations in accordance with the mandate of the constitution and laws.

In the future, Sigit continued, his party is committed to continuing to guard and protect the workers while utilizing the democratic space in order to convey aspirations for the welfare of the workers in the future so that they are in accordance with the rules of the constitution and laws.
