Malang Police Handover 3 Fake Prosecutors Suspects To The Prosecutor

MALANG - Malang Resort Police handed over three suspects in the fake prosecutor's case along with evidence of fraud cases to the Malang District Prosecutor's Office, East Java, after the investigation file P-21 (complete).

Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of Malang Police AKP Donny K. Bara'langi said that two of them were women with the initials FRA (31) and DTM (31), and one man with the initials RP (25).

"Today, the General Crime Unit of the Malang Police Satreskrim has carried out phase two or the transfer of suspects and evidence to the Prosecutor's Office," Donny said as quoted by Antara, Thursday, May 12.

From the results of the investigation, said Donny, the modus operandi of the fraudsters who claimed to be the head of the state prosecutor's office and the prosecutor's staff offered the victim a vehicle confiscated by the prosecutor's office at a low price.

With the recognition as an employee of the prosecutor's office, he continued, the victim believed in their method and then handed over some money. However, the victim has never received the vehicle.

"Until now the victim has never received the vehicle, until finally the victims found out that the perpetrator was not a kajari or an employee of the prosecutor's office," he said.

The gang, he continued, had carried out the fraudulent act since 2019. Each had its own role, namely the FRA claimed to be the Head of the Malang City District Attorney, while the DTM claimed to be the wife of one of the prosecutors and the RP acted as the prosecutor's staff (FRA's subordinate). .

The three perpetrators were arrested in a hotel, Yogyakarta area in March 2022. The case was then transferred to the Malang Police Satreskrim for further legal proceedings.

"From the results of the investigation, we got information that the results of the fraud were more than Rp. 2 billion and some of the victims were in Malang Regency," he said.

The perpetrators were charged with Article 378 of the Criminal Code (KUHP) with a maximum prison sentence of 4 years.
