Khofifah Asks Yankes To Prioritize Dose 2 And Booster Vaccinations For 16 Thousand Calhaj From East Java

SURABAYA - East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa requested pro-active health services for two-dose and booster vaccinations for prospective pilgrims (CJH). Because, as many as 16,862 CJH from East Java will depart for the Hajj in 2022.

"The second dose of vaccine and booster is the local government's business, because we have sufficient stock of vaccines and vaccinators," said Khofifah, when discussing Hajj preparations with the Ministry of Religion's Director General of Hajj and Umrah (PHU), Hilman Latief, at the Grahadi State building in Surabaya, Thursday. , May 12.

Khofifah emphasized that the vaccine for CJH has become the responsibility of the Regional Government. This is because the local government has sufficient stock of vaccines and vaccinators.

"Therefore, we (East Java Provincial Government) asked the East Java Regional Office to identify, and find access to the nearest health service facility (fasyankes), based on the data on the names of pilgrims who will depart. )'," he said.

Regarding the vaccine for CJH, the Director General of Hajj and Umrah (PHU) of the Ministry of Religion, Hilman Latief, encouraged pilgrims to immediately complete the first, second, and booster doses of vaccines. Because, based on data from the Director General of PHU, there are about 64 percent of pilgrims who have not received the second vaccine.

"So, we encourage prospective pilgrims to get vaccinated and not wait for a circular from the Director General," said Hilman.

According to him, it is important to remind prospective pilgrims to immediately take the second dose of vaccine and booster. He warned that the pilgrims who were about to depart would not be constrained because of neglecting the vaccine case.

"It has become an absolute requirement from the Saudi Arabian government. We want to organize the pilgrims and officers, then when is the vaccine, also the distribution of the batch. This is considering the number of pilgrims in East Java is the second largest in Indonesia," he said.

For information, the departure of prospective Hajj pilgrims in 2022 was held again after two years of delay due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Through the Minister of Religion, the Indonesian government announced the certainty of the departure of prospective Hajj pilgrims from Indonesia. This year, the Saudi Arabian government gave a quota of 100,051 pilgrims.
