JAKARTA - Firefighters (Damkar) evacuated a 3.7-meter long python that entered a coffee shop owned by a resident in East Bintan District, Bintan Regency, Riau Islands (Kepri), Thursday 12 May.

Head of the Technical Service Unit (UPTD) of the East Bintan Fire Department, Nurwendi, said that his party received a report of the incident from the coffee shop owner at around 07.00 WIB.

"After that, our rescue team immediately went down to evacuate the snake," he said quoted from Antara.

The evacuation process takes approximately 30 minutes. It is suspected that another python had entered the coffee shop, but so far it has not been found.

According to Nurwendi, before entering the local coffee shop, the snake had eaten a chicken belonging to a local resident.

"Currently, in the dry season, snakes do come out of their nests, especially when they are hungry to find food," he said.

The python has now been secured at the East Bintan UPTD Damkar office.

Nurwendi appealed to residents to immediately report to his office if any venomous animals entered their homes or the surrounding environment.

"The name is a venomous animal, it must endanger human safety. If you see it, report it to us immediately, don't act alone," said Nurwendi.
